Discover the UAE's Most Thrilling Roads and Highways: E11, E311, E611 & Beyond

Locals in the UAE have always been proud of the country's road network. The road infrastructure in major cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and all others is high quality. The outstanding road system runs between all major cities and areas.

Additionally, the UAE offers an exciting mix of well-paved roads and sand dunes that attract millions of people from around the world annually. Famous roads include the likes of E11, E311, E611, and more. So, let's look into these famous highways and roads available in the UAE for the best trips:

UAE's 558 km Major Highway – The Famous E11

When it comes to the main highways of the UAE, the E11 is always one of the most famous ones. Connecting all of the Emirates except Fujairah, the E11 spans 558 km in its entirety. This figure also makes the E11 the longest road in the country.

It starts at Al Silah in Abu Dhabi and goes all the way to the far-placed Ras Al Khaimah. Along the way, it connects the most well-known locations within the city. Also, the E11 runs from Bur Dubai to the Abu Dhabi International Airport, serving as the country's main artery.

The E11 has different names at different places. Known as the Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road in Abu Dhabi, it becomes the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai and Sheikh Muhammad Bin Salem Road in Ras Al Khaimah. Whatever the name, it is one of the most iconic Emirates roads in the region.

E311 – Dubai's Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed Road

Technically part of the E11, the segment of it connecting Dubai to other Emirates is known as the E311. It is more famously known as the Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed Road and is one of the busiest roads in Dubai and the UAE. This toll-free road ideal road is known for providing the best views of the city's skyline and all major attractions. Providing a lot of excitement to the locals of Dubai and Sharjah, the E311 is 140 km long and hits the end in Ras Al Khaimah.

The Emirates Road – E611

Known as the Emirates Road in Dubai, the E611 spans 110 km. Running parallel to the E311 and E11, the E611 is often a good alternative when the other two get too busy. Also, it is one of the major roads in Dubai and is very useful when traveling from Abu Dhabi to Ajman, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, and other locations. Especially if you wish to avoid the downtown traffic, this is the best Dubai highway to travel on.

E44 – Also Known as the Al Khalil Road

When looking for the ideal link between Dubai and Hatta, locals often trust the E44. It is one of the best Emirates Road systems for visiting the region's iconic mountain range. Locals also know the E44 as Al Khalil Road or Dubai-Hatta Highway. Also, it connects to Oman while running through different stretches. The E44 is the main starting point at the Jumeirah Village Triangle and Dubai Sports City intersection on the E311. This Dubai highway is strategically positioned around major developments and the Ras Al Khor industrial zone.

E66 – The Famous Dubai Al Ain Road

The E66, also known as the Dubai-Al Ain Road, runs between Dubai and Al Ain. In 2018, it was renamed Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan Road. This road is very important due to its placement in the Emirates. Starting at the Wafi Mall Junction at E11 and running opposite the E311, E611, and E44 Emirates Road systems, the E66 finishes in Al Ain City.

E95 – Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road

Another very significant Emirates Road is the E95, also known as the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road. It runs alongside the Oman-UAE border, starts from Al Aian, and finishes all the way to the Saudi Arabia border. At the Saudi border, it merges with the E90 highway. Additionally, the E95 is the link to other countries and is very important in terms of providing the connection for people living outside UAE's major cities.

Speed Limits in Dubai and on UAE Highways

It is very important to know and follow maximum speed limits in Dubai and on the rest of the UAE's major highways. On all major highways and freeways in the UAE, the speed limit is between 100-120 km/h. However, in urban areas, the speed limits are between 60-80 km/h. Leaving enough space to change lanes and driving in the right lane are safe practices in Emirates Road systems. Also, make sure to use your turn signals when changing lanes or turning. Keep a wide viewpoint and stay focused on the road situation at all times for everyone's safety.
